What’s happening
SAFE continues working to protect Southern Illinois from fracking, oil and gas development, and related threats.
Why it matters
Protecting our water, land, health, and communities requires sustained advocacy and public involvement.
What YOU can do
Help fund SAFE’s work. Your contribution supports our advocacy, education, outreach, and efforts to protect Southern Illinois.
For more than a decade, SAFE and fellow plaintiffs have challenged the process Illinois used to adopt its fracking regulations. On December 7, our attorneys will return to court for hearings on two motions seeking dismissal of our complaint.
We want our supporters there with us.
The hearing is open to the public, and SAFE’s legal team is encouraging plaintiffs, supporters and allies to attend. We are also checking whether a Zoom option will be available.
If you’d like to attend but need help getting to Edwardsville, please contact SAFE at info@dontfractureillinois.org.
After more than a decade, this fight continues—and so does our commitment to protecting Southern Illinois and the public’s right to have a meaningful voice in decisions affecting our environment.
Help SAFE Fight for Stronger Protections
SAFE has spent years standing up for Southern Illinois communities, water, land, and health. That work continues—and we need your help.
Your donation helps SAFE educate the public, respond to emerging threats, advocate for stronger protections, and give Southern Illinoisans a voice in decisions that affect our future.
Every contribution helps keep this work going.
