Jackson Co. Illinois Land Use & Economic Development meeting to consider a ban on fracking – YouTube.
Held on July 12, 2012, this meeting features a representative from the Illinois Oil & Gas Association pitching the potential “benefits” that fracking can bring to the region, followed by limited audience comments and finally an opinion from the State’s Attorney’s office. The presentation is filled with common falsehoods about fracking, and the oil and gas representative could not answer many questions with any accuracy. The large audience was limited to five questions/comments, so little was heard about the problems with fracking. The last five minutes of the video features the Illinois state’s attorney representative issuing their opinion on the legality of a county ordinance that would ban fracking.
