6/7/14 Peace Coalition vigil on fracking

Press Advisory and Announcement 30 May 2014

The Peace Coalition of Southern Illinois is sponsoring a vigil to raise public awareness of the violent nature of hydraulic fracturing (fracking) as well as the nonviolent character of developing renewable sources of energy. The vigil takes place at the corner of Illinois and Main Streets, Rts 51 and 13 in Carbondale on Saturday, June 7 from noon until 1pm. All concerned about fracking in Southern Illinois are encouraged to participate. Bring your own signs if you wish.

There will be a Peace Coalition monthly meeting afterward at Cristaudo’s to discuss issues and plan future vigils. Persons interested in learning more about the Peace Coalition are invited to attend.

SAFE is comprised solely of volunteers in their non-working hours, so please allow at least 48 hours for a response.  We will make every effort to respond sooner, but we cannot guarantee someone will be able to respond immediately due to the fact that we have no full-time staff.  We are dedicated farmers, teachers, lawyers, and other everyday people working as hard as we can to protect our home. Thank you for your consideration.
